Part 1: What Is Downtime and How to Use It
There is a brief introduction of the Downtime feature. It is designed to set a schedule for time away from the screen. Before turning it on, you can select the specific apps you can open and the contacts you can call during downtime. Then you can turn on Downtime and adjust the start and end time.
Go to Settings and then choose Screen Time. After that, click on the Always Allowed option. Select the allowed calls and apps. Then go back to the previous page and tap on Downtime. Next, Toggle it on and choose the scheduled days or hours. Set a Screen Time passcode if needed.
And a downtime reminder will appear five minutes before running Downtime. Then when it automatically begins as scheduled, some apps will be greyed out on the Home Screen. If you click the unallowed app, you will get a message “You’ve reached your limit.”
