Part 1: What Is Screen Time Passcode and How to Set One

Screen Time passcode is different from your device passcode. It is a 4-digit passcode used to lock the restricted content, apps and settings in Screen Time. After you turn it on, Screen Time can limit the activity on some websites or apps and will close them down automatically once the set time ends.

To set up one passcode, you can launch Settings > Choose Screen Time > Ensure you have enabled Screen Time > Click Lock Screen Time Settings > Set a passcode and re-enter it > Enter the Apple account for the passcode recovery.

Part 2: What Happens After 10 Failed Attempts for Screen Time Passcode

When you want to change Screen Time settings, what happens if you enter a forgotten passcode no more than 10 times? How to get rid of failed passcode attempt or remove parental control without passcode after 10 failed attempts?

6 failed passcode attempts: try again in 1 minute.
7 failed Passcode attempts: try again in 5 minutes.
8 failed passcode attempts: try again in 15 minutes.
9 failed passcode attempts: try again in 60 minutes.
10 failed passcode attempts: try again in 60 minutes.
11 failed passcode attempts: try again in 60 minutes.

It doesn’t allow you to try again until the locking time ends. During this time, you can’t unlock Screen Time and reset the passcode in 1 hour. If you can try again later, follow the instructions below to remove “failed attempts.”

Part 3: How to Recover the Passcode After Forgetting Screen Time Passcode

The first way is to find “Forgot Passcode” which can bypass the Screen Time lock. Alternatively, use iPhone Passcode Tuner to remove the lock without data loss. You can also erase iPhone in iTunes or iCloud.

Way 1. Find the Forgot Passcode button and change the passcode

Step 1: Go to Settings and then choose Screen Time.

Step 2: Scroll down and click Change Screen Time Passcode. Tap on Turn Off Screen Time Passcode.

Step 3: Click the blue “Forgot Passcode” link. After that, enter your Apple ID account and password in the box. Then the passcode is turned off immediately.

Way 2. Use iPhone Passcode Tuner to remove Screen Time passcode

Step 1: Download and install Cocosenor iPhone Passcode Tuner on a computer.

Step 2: Launch the software and choose Remove Screen Time Passcode.

Step 3: Connect the iPhone to the computer using a USB cable.

Step 4: Make sure you have disabled Find My iPhone (Settings > Apple ID > Find My). After that, click the Start button. The lock will be removed quickly.

Step 5: On your iPhone, directly click Turn Off Screen Time Passcode in Screen Time.

Way 3. Open iTunes to perform a factory reset on your iPhone

Step 1: Boot up your computer and back up your data. Then connect your iPhone to iTunes via a USB cable.

Part 4: Can I Reset My iPhone Without Screen Time Passcode in Settings

Generally, you can reset the iPhone in Settings without effort after entering the device passcode. But now it is impossible because you must enter Screen Time passcode at the same time, unless you haven’t set the passcode in Screen Time.
